Re: Iran's Oil Bourse
Fri, June 2, 2006 - 10:18 AMSorry to leave you hanging.
March 25th came and went no Oil Bourse in Iran was opened. I read somewhere that the Mullah's in Iran got it delayed because they are able to manipulate costs through currency exchanges such that they can reap extreme profits for themselves, so a Euro pricing strategy would have hurt them. Another more plausible story was that China, who holds a lot of dollars and is a major importer of Iran's oil pressured them into keeping the status quo.
This collection of articles is long and mostly speculative, but may help...

Re: Iran's Oil Bourse
Sun, June 4, 2006 - 12:09 AMThe China angle seems plausible. China is gradually reducing its dollar holdings. When they get them down around $300 billion, watch out. I believe they are around $800 billion right now. -
